About CAIA
We exist to ensure the Caribbean writes its own AI story
The Caribbean AI Association was founded on the conviction that the region's people, cultures, and economies deserve a seat at the table where AI is shaped.
Our Mission
To unite, equip, and amplify the Caribbean AI community
CAIA's mission is to build the most connected, capable, and courageous AI community in the Caribbean. We do this by bringing together the full breadth of the region's talent, from research labs and technology startups to government ministries and civil society organizations.
Our vision is a Caribbean in which artificial intelligence is a tool of liberation and prosperity: one that reflects our values, serves our communities, and is governed by our people. A Caribbean that does not just use AI, but leads in shaping what AI becomes.

Our Founder
Adrian Dunkley
Adrian Dunkley is one of the Caribbean's foremost voices on artificial intelligence. A practitioner, strategist, and advocate with deep roots in the region's technology ecosystem, Adrian has spent years at the intersection of AI, policy, and Caribbean development.
Recognizing that the Caribbean's AI future would not build itself, Adrian founded CAIA in 2024 to create the institutional home the region's AI community had long needed. His conviction: that the Caribbean's talent, creativity, and lived experience are not peripheral to global AI, they are essential to it.
Under Adrian's leadership, CAIA has grown into a regional force connecting practitioners, shaping policy, and placing Caribbean voices at the center of conversations that matter.
What Guides Us
Our values
Inclusion
AI's benefits must reach every corner of the Caribbean, not just its capitals. We build for the whole region.
Sovereignty
The Caribbean must author its own AI future. We resist narratives that reduce the region to a passive recipient of external technology.
Excellence
Caribbean AI must be world-class. We hold our work and our members to the highest standards of intellectual and professional rigor.
Accountability
AI systems must answer to the people they affect. We champion governance frameworks that center community trust.
Collaboration
No single island, nation, or institution holds the full answer. Our strength is collective intelligence across the region.
Courage
Shaping a technology as consequential as AI demands boldness. We speak plainly, act decisively, and lead without apology.
